Thalassaemia International Day 8th May 2017
The day was celebrated with the usual glory and enthusiasm at the Thalassaemia House. Mr. Sardar Khan Niazi, a philanthropist and owner of a news channel "Roze" accepted to be the Chief Guest. The welcome address was made by the new President Maj. Gen (R) Suhaib Ahmad, who expressed his determination to make the Thalassaemia House, a state of the art centre in the years to come. The patients showed great enthusiasm by reciting from the Holy Quran, Naat and staging an impressive Tubeule for the audience. A magic show was specially arranged for the patients, for their entertainment which was fully enjoyed. The chief guest stressed the importance of Thalassarmic parent's awareness screening test before marriage and blood donations. The function ended by presentation of a shield to the chief guest and lunch for the participant.

Visit Delegate From UK
Hafiz Shoaib along with his team members representing "Creating Smiles" from UK visited the centre on10th Oct 2016. They have been recently registered as a Charity Organization in UK. More than 24 Thalassaemics along with their parents were present on the occasion. The team interviewed all the patients/parents and made a documentary for making appeal for donation at UK.
The team head Mr. Shoaib donated an amount of 5000 British Pounds to the society. The Secretary General Lt. Col (R) M. Yusuf Mujahid thanked the visiting team and hoped for a good working relation in future.
Maj.Gen (R) Suhaib Ahmad addressed the audience and showed his determination to make the centre a state of the Art Centre in the years to come.

Provision of Blood by Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) Jan 2017
Pakistan Thalassaemia Welfare Society is looking after over five hundred Thalassaemic Children, providing them free blood transfusion for their survival. However there is a wide gap between demand & Supply. Keeping in mind the situation, a request was forwarded to the Executive Director of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology for helping us by providing surplus blood for the Thalassaemic Children. The request was accepted and now we are getting blood on required bases since Jan 2017. We are greatly indebted for their cooperation and help.

Addition in Visiting Faculty - 17th Jan 2017
We Welcome Dr. Azhar Halim (Dermatologist) Director Riphah Social Welfare Department Riphah University Al-mezan Peshawar Road. The honorable dermatologist has started visiting Thalassaemia Centre for providing consultation in dermatology on weekly basis for the Thalassaemics. The respected dermatologist has also voluntary sponsored Miss. Zanaib Fazal for all her expense on monthly basis.

Askari Islamic Banking Donation Head Office F-8 Markaz, Islamabad
The Askari Islamic Bank donated to the Pakistan Thalassaemia Welfare Society Rs. One Million for the up-graduation of Blood Bank & Laboratory on 5th Dec 2016. Following equipments were purchased.

I.Refrigerator Blood Bag Centrifuges(2)
II.Freezer for Storage for Fresh Freezer Plasma (FFPs)(1)
III.Tube Sealor(2)
IV.Plasma Extractor(6)

With the addition of above equipment, we have started preparing Red Cell Concentrate (RCCS) and Fresh Frozen Plasma FFP. The Society is greatly indebted to the Islamic banking for the generous donation.

6. Ramzan Food Package-2017
Ummah Welfare Trust provided Ramzan Food Package to all the Thalassaemics families during the Ramzan.
