PAKISTAN THALASSAEMIA WELFARE SOCIETY (REGD)
President’s Message
It’s been over a year that I took over as President of the Society. The Society has made phenomenal progress under the dynamic leadership of Late Gen Faheem Ahmed Khan whose contributions for the development of the Society would always be remembered in golden words. May Allah Almighty grant him the best place in Jannah for this Sadaqa-e-jaria.

In the last year or so I have tried to focus on improving the care of the patients being treated at the Centre. The lab is now fully functional with facilities to prepare blood components like packed cells etc. The screening services have also been improved. The number of blood camps have been increased and with that the number of active patients getting treatment have also increased. We are constantly striving to improve the standard of care within the limited resources available to us. The plan is underway to replace the patient beds with comfortable chairs.

I also focused on revising the constitution of the Society and with the help of our legal advisor Advocate Saeed Akhtar and other executive committee members we have been able to bring many useful amendments in the constitution for the better functioning of the Society. The number of executive committee members has also been increased. We are also focusing on revision and development of SOPs for the functioning of various sub-units of the centre.

I am grateful to our donors for providing financial support to meet our running as well as development budget. In this regard we have decided to rent out a portion of thalassaemia house and the money generated from this source would be used to provide improved patient care.
